Vitamin B-12 Injections

Dr. Holly German at Natural Health Associates is now offering vitamin B-12 injections!

B12 is one of the most important vitamins – deficiency causes a long list of symptoms due it’s widespread use throughout the body. It plays a role in immunity, healthy mood, memory and brain function, and overall hormone balance, specifically thyroid, adrenal, reproductive and brain neurotransmitters.

B12 is especially important in energy production. What’s not to love about more energy?!

Our body needs B12 to create energy & is not well absorbed from the diet or in capsule form.
Everyone can benefit from a B12 shot – especially those who live a busy life, athletes, seniors, vegetarians, vegans, and people on prescription medications.
After B12 injections many patients feel a natural (not jittery) boost in energy.

Why an Injection? Don’t I Get Enough In My Diet?

B12 is found primarily in animal products. Not everyone eats a lot of meat, so it’s actually fairly easy to wind up with less than optimal levels, even on a healthy diet.

Additionally, B12 undergoes a relatively complicated digestive process in the GI tract. High cortisol and stress levels can inhibit digestion, and B12 absorption. Because of this, injections provide an easy way to bypass digestion and ensure you’re getting all the B12 you can use.

How do I know if I’m low in B12?

Many doctors will run serum B12 levels but testing levels of a nutrient in the bloodstream tells us nothing about the intracellular levels. Since all of the action takes place inside the cell, the serum levels aren’t very informative.
The best way to assess for B12 deficiency is with a comprehensive intracellular micronutrient analysis by Spectracell – this test tells us if you’re eating and absorbing all of the micronutrients your body needs.

Other tests that may be helpful when evaluating B12 levels are urinary methylmalonic acid, MTHFR genetic polymorphism analysis, homocysteine and a CBC. We can run all of these tests for you, by the way.
Above all, if you have any of the symptoms on the list above, you can always try B12 injections and see if your symptoms resolve. Since there are very few side effects and no toxicity related to B12 supplementation, it’s worth a shot 😉
