Here we are in holiday season, full swing! The most wonderful time of the year can also be the most stressful!
Here are 5 easy ways to manage your stress, so you can enjoy the season.
Aromatherapy involves the use of aromatic essential oils (which are derived from a variety of herbs, flowers, roots, and actually almost every part of different plants).
Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways to improve your health, but they’re probably most popular for relieving stress. There are several combinations of essential oils that have this effect, but our favorites are the “Relaxing” and “Yoga Sunrise” blends we carry at the clinic, made locally in Fort Collins by Salus.
Just carry the oil around with you, and take a few whiffs or apply a drop our two under your nose or back of neck, and you’ll feel an almost instant wave of relaxation!
I don’t know if there’s a better way to relax then to have a massage! Massage is great because it’s your dedicated time with no interruptions, and a way for your entire body to relax. They’re important to have at some regular intervals, because stress is more than just an emotional state – stress creates inflammatory chemicals that have an effect throughout your body, especially tight muscles, that lead to even more stress. Give yourself some time for a massage this holiday season!
Acupuncture can treat a variety of health conditions; however it’s especially great for changing your physiological state out of a state of stress to one of relaxation and bliss – if you’ve ever had acupuncture you know what I’m talking about – you feel so relaxed during and after the treatment, and that feeling can last for days after!
- Natural Medicines
Theanine, Tranquility Formula, Magnesium, Cortisol Manager and Lavella are just a few of the different natural medicines we have available. Each works in its own way to help your mind out of a stressful state, leaving you relaxed but also in control. My personal favorite is Tranquility Formula – it leaves me feeling tranquil just like the name says – but not tired or dopey. I can get things done, in a relaxed state when I take it. (It’s also great for sleep, too!)
Meditation involves using your mind to focus on a particular subject, activity or thought in order to achieve mental
clarity or an emotionally calm state. In other words, it’s a way to take your mind off of stress, and get it concentrating on something that brings you peace and calm. I suggest using a mediation app like Headspace – they have hundreds of programs you can use to bring some peace to your mind, and make your stress less of a focus.
There you have it – our 5 best ways to stay calm and enjoy the holiday season! There are many more ways to relax too, of course. Staying regular on your exercise and spending time with your loved ones are important too, so you can stay focused on what really matters in your life.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
